Campaign Story
Simukai Child Protection Program assists orphans and vulnerable children in need of safe shelter, health related information, post-gender based violence services and health kits among others to enhance child protection. The organization achieves this through the provision of counseling, play therapy, rest and edutainment to survivors of abuse, abandoned and neglected children who are housed in the place of safety and those in the communities the home serves, to restore their complete emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. Street Work is conducted to assist children living and working on the streets with an estimate of 15-20 children accessing various services at Simukai Child Protection Program on a daily basis. The organization also implements projects aimed at promoting preventive measures against sexual and reproductive health diseases, malaria and COVID-19 in the community. A total of 394 children have accessed emergency shelter at Mutare, Makoni and Chipinge Places of Safety from the year 2021. Re-unifications were conducted and 386 children (313 girls and 73 boys) were reunited with their families in 2021.
